Swift Birds Nest Buggy

My most recent project has been creating a striking yet functional willow shopping buggy, offering an elegant and more sustainable alternative to plastic bags and mass-produced carriers.

Perfect for local shops and farmers’ markets, the Swift Birds Nest Buggy inspires a more stylish and enjoyable shopping experience. Its distinctive design makes it a beautiful addition to a home, whether displayed in a living space or positioned ready-to-go in your hallway.

As with all my work, the buggy is handwoven using locally sourced, sustainably grown willow. Following my long-term fascination with bird and animal nests, and the apparent chaotic weaving which always results in a beautifully woven form, this buggy is styled to emulate the swift’s nesting craft.

Every component has been lovingly crafted by local artisans on Dartmoor, Devon. The design features a hand-forged metal frame that provides sturdy support for the basket, paired with a durable leather handle crafted from locally sourced leather. Distinctive wooden wheels lend a touch of character and individuality, while a removable organic cotton lining with a leather drawstring offers practical protection for your shopping in all weather conditions.
