RHS Rosemoor Solo Exhibition

August 17th - November 1st 2026

I am pleased to have been asked to put together a collection of willow sculptures celebrating the coming of Autumn for RHS Rosemoor.

I have chosen animals that remind me of Autumn such as hedgehogs, foxes, hares, tawny owls, and the mushrooms I come across on my walks across Dartmoor.

Highland cows and Hebridean sheep are also featured - although not native to Dartmoor, they reside there, and whose presence always lift my spirits.

I have also woven a 5ft nest made from willow and foraged stems gathered along the ancient pathways around Moretonhampstead. These nest work beautifully in gardens and childrens’ playgrounds offering a place of refuge and reflection.

My favourite piece is the Woman of the woods holding a nest. The idea began when I was asked to make elegant female scarecrows for a customer and this developed into a woven more spiritual female form. In many cultures a woman of the woods holding a nest symbolises new beginnings, nurturing and protection of the environment. She is woven with willow, birch, beech and ivy and contorted willow.

These photos show some of the sculptures in my studio before they were delivered to Rosemoor. Now they sit among carefully planted flower beds. As Autumn draws in the sculptures will compliment the colours and textures of the changing plants in each garden.
